The Rebel Black Dot Song o' the Day: SKApril X

Poindexter, "Purgatory" from the Poindexter E.P. (Rude Boy Mike Papa Whiskey)

Skammentary: "Purgatory" is brand-new music, as in April 2020 new. "Purgatory" has a good beat & Poindexter are Michiganders out of Detroit, but they are mired in that particular trap of cocksure youth wherein all meaning & purpose has been mocked & rejected, only then to be filled with angst at the terrifying prospect of life without any meaning or purpose. Also, like so many, Poindexter does not understand purgatory, ignoring completely the obvious etymology of the word (purge-atory, this is not complicated) & instead investing in the pop-culture idiocy & ignorance that supposes a Greek-style underworld of shadows & listlessness.
"Forever flailing, headed toward collapse
Overworked, this world is (unintelligible),
Glimpse of eternity, only a pipe dream,
We've got nothing to believe.

"We can never rest assured,
Someone listens in on every word,
I will obey!…"
