The Victors
Michigan 34-10 Western Michigan
1-0, Big Ten 0-0

That was probably the least satisfactory first-game-of-the-year experience I've had. Yesterday's truncated win wasn't painful like the desolating loss to Notre Dame in the opening game of the '98 season, a rough way to come off the high of the '97 National Championship, but with the multiple delays & the game eventually being called due to weather it hardly feels as if the season has begun.

This was the only Saturday of September that I'll be able to spend parked in front of a television, making all the usual offerings to the football gods; I will follow the valiant Wolverines as obsessively as I am able & will maintain the frequency & quality of "The Victors" posts as well as possible.

"Hoke Springs Eternal"? Absent hope, foster the hope that there is hope.
