Operation AXIOM: The World War—The Battle of Passchendaele (Third Ypres), Part V
12 October 1917: The First Battle of Passchendaele—After a series of successful British & A.N.Z.A.C. advances that had severely demoralized the defending German Fourth Army, the Germans repulsed an Entente attack & held the high ground of the Passchendaele Ridge; the attack had been ordered in part due to a misunderstanding of the tactical situation caused by poor communications.
Lest we forget.
