13-14 June 1970: The 38th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans—The № 23 Porsche 917K of Hans Herrmann & Richard Attwood won the "Grand Prix of Endurance & Efficiency" & Porsche claimed all three spots on the overall podium*; heavy rain throughout contributed to only sixteen cars finishing the race; Steve McQueen's film Le Mans (1971) was partially filmed on track during the actual race.
Commentary: *Porsche holds the record among manufacturers with nineteen overall Le Mans victories & Porsche only knows how many class wins by each years' fleet of 911s.
