30 August-2 September 1920: The Battle of Komarów—The Soviets attacked the Polish right flank to relieve the pressure from the retreating Red Army; the Poles outraced the Soviets & established a strong defensive line at Komarów to prevent the Reds from organizing & concentrating their superior forces; political commissar Joseph Stalin's 1st Cavalry Army ceased to exist as a fighting force.
