There's no flow to this race, due to interminable "Slow Zones" due to crashes. I agree that Slow Zones are better than Full Course Yellows (a portion of the track is placed under a speed limit with no passing allowed, as opposed to the whole circuit), but there are still very disruptive. The cars can race on two-thirds of the Circuit de la Sarthe, but then have to crawl through one-third of the track under Slow Zone conditions. A Slow Zone itself prompted a collision, as two G.T.E. Am. cars crashed into a Hypercar that was slowing for the Slow Zone. There is a baleful axiom in motor racing: "Yellows breed yellows." The Le Mans centenary is off to a discouraging start.
