Operation AXIOM: Between the Wars
1 October 1923: The Küstrin Putsch—Bruno Buchrucker, leader of "labor commandos" of the "Black Reichswehr," a secret paramilitary affiate of the Reichswehr, announced from Küstrin Fortress his intention to overthrow the elected government of Chancellor Gustav Stresemann & then dithered; when a Reichswehr unit arrived & opened fire, killing one & wounding seven, the putsch collapsed.

Commentary: Buchrucker was sentenced to ten years in prison, but was released after four years. He joined the Nazi Party in 1926, following the Strasser brothers, Gregor & Otto, on the N.S.D.A.P.'s left wing.
