Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin (1869-1916), Russian mystic & preeminent advisor to the Russian imperial family—even on the conduct of the war—due to his reputation as a faith healer of the young crown prince (Tsesarevich), Alexei; elaborately murdered at the Moika Palace in Petrograd (pre-war St. Petersburg) by a conspiracy led by Prince Felix Yusupov (1887-1967) on 30 December 1916.
