The Rebel Black Dot Song o' the Day: SKAugust

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, "The Impression That I Get" from Let's Face It (The Last Angry Rude Boy)

Skammentary: Welcome to SKAugust! This summer of 2017 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Summer of Ska, the summer of 1997. Twenty years? Time flies! We here at the R.B.D.S.O.T.D. aim to celebrate those halcyon days of yore & the twenty skantastic years 'twixt then & now with thirty-one days of ska, focusing especially but not exclusively on ska's "third wave," ska-punk, the music that proliferated & was popularized in those long-ago days of the Summer of Ska. The protocols for SKAugust will be more long the lines of the SKAfter Party that of SKApril proper; our aim is less to explore the length & breadth of ska & more to focus on the bands, the songs, & the albums that made the last score of years possible.

So, break out your black & white checkered clothing, lace up your Vans or your Chuck Taylors, dust off your pork pie, & let's skank away these last, long, hot dog days of summer. Ska! Ska! Ska!
