The Rebel Black Dot Song o' the Day: SKAugust
No Doubt, "Spiderwebs" from Tragic Kingdom (The Last Angry Rude Boy)
Skammentary: By the Summer of Ska, No Doubt were already transitioning from their early ska sound to the pure-pop dreck that would make Gwen Stefani a household name & television personality. Nonetheless, the commercial success & ska-influenced sound of Tragic Kingdom was a significant factor in the Summer of Ska.
As ever, no matter what point I'm trying to get across, I will never compromise the musical integrity of either the R.B.D.S.O.T.D. or SKApril (including its subsidiaries SKAugust & the SKAfter Party). Were "Spiderwebs" an altogether unworthy song, it would not be a R.B.D.S.O.T.D.
