Operation AXIOM: After the World War—The Polish-Soviet War, Part IV
17 August 1920: The Battle of Zadwórze—A Polish battalion was surrounded by the Red Army's 1st Cavalry Army at the train station of Zadwórze, outside of Lwów (Lviv); the vastly outnumbered Poles repulsed six cavalry charges before being overwhelmed & annihilated; the 1st Cavalry was the only Red Army formation in a position to intercept Piłsudski's counterattack, but was sufficiently delayed.
Lest we forget.
