Skammentary: We all have blind spots. I have never included The Suicide Machines in SKApril, mentally disqualifying them as a "punk" band. I enjoy lots of punk music, but it doesn't have a place in SKApril/SKAfter Party/SKAugust. But the participation of front man Jason Navarro in the Pick It Up! "skacumentary" prompted me to re-evaluate that decision. Yes, they rarely feature any horns, but they do use a good deal of syncopated guitar, putting them solidly under the "skacore" umbrella. I erred in excluding The Suicide Machines; I did so not out of any malice, but 'twas an error nevertheless.
