1 June 1962: Adolf Eichmann (1906-1962) was executed by hanging at Ramla Prison, Israel; he was convicted on fifteen counts of murdering Jews & Romani in the Shoah, during the Second World War; a key Schutzstaffel administrator of the Nazi "Final Solution," Eichmann had fled to Argentina after the war & lived under a pseudonym; in 1960, he was kidnapped by Israeli agents & smuggled into Israel.
