20 September 1972: The Skylab Medical Experiment Altitude Test (S.M.E.A.T.)—Crippen, Thornton, & Bobko emerged from their hypobaric chamber no worse for wear; along with providing physicians & scientists at the Manned Spacecraft Center with a physiological baseline, S.M.E.A.T. also revealed flaws in Skylab's zero-G toilet (also a medical research device), allowing for re-design prior to launch.
