Commentary: "Trials and Tribble-ations" was a special tribute to thirty years of the original Star Trek series, which debuted in the fall of 1966. "Trials and Tribble-ations" took place during the T.O.S. episode "The Trouble with Tribbles," using contemporary technology to insert the D.S.9 characters into the T.O.S. footage.
