Operation AXIOM: The 57th Anniversary of Star Trek
Fifty-seven years ago to the day, 8 September 1966, Star Trek (retroactively known as "The Original Series," T.O.S.) premiered on network television with the episode, "The Man Trap." Star Trek ran for three seasons, but only because the network did not know how to measure the ratings correctly; it was very popular among key demographics, which explains the decades of success the show enjoyed in re-runs & six feature films starring the original-series cast. Star Trek debuted the first of its seventy-nine episodes fifty-seven years ago today, 8 September 1966.
And just because I can, let me state the following: I do not accept as canon the Prime Timeline as depicted in J.J. Abrams's Star Trek (2009) & I reject utterly the alternative Kelvin Timeline seen in that film & its sequels. I do not accept as canon the first two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery. (The later seasons of Discovery are set in the far future, which is no more valid than the false futures seen in "All Good Things" [Star Trek: The Next Generation] or "Twilight" [Star Trek: Enterprise].) I do not accept as canon Star Trek: Picard. I do not accept as canon Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The new shows on C.B.S. All Access/Paramount+ are not & never will be canonical Star Trek. I'm open to new Star Trek, just not that self-negating, self-loathing nonsense.
