Skammentary: 1999 was a seminal year, but also an ominous year. The Third Wave of ska had crested & was receding: In 1999, The Aquabats! released The Aquabats! vs. the Floating Eye of Death… & The Hippos released Heads Are Gonna Roll, both bands moving away from their ska sound. Just two years after my introduction to ska & the very year after Reel Big Fish released Why Do They Rock So Hard? & Less Than Jake released Hello Rockview, ska-punk was on the wane.
