The Explorers Club
No. CCXVII - Richard Attenborough, Baron Attenborough (b. 1923).
I will always love Jurassic Park with a childlike sense of wonder, but I'd have to say my favorite of Attenborough's pictures, that I've seen, is either The Great Escape or The Flight of the Phoenix.

Thanks for the great old photos of Sir Richard.
Not unlike his character in "Jurassic Park", he was an exceptionally luminous Santa Claus in the remake of "Miracle on 34th St" in 1994.
You're welcome, California Dreamer. A note on usage: as he was created a life peer in '93 'tis no longer appropriate to refer to The Lord Attenborough as merely "Sir Richard." I've seen neither version of Miracle on 34th Street, one of many gaps in my cinematic experience.
Ah; OK. Thanks, Mike. I'm afraid he'll always be Sir Richard first and foremost in my stubborn mind's ear, but henceforth I'll get the peerage right. It's the least I can do.
Funny you should mention cinematic gaps; I was just telling my film-buff dad that I still have those gaps-- actually, too many of them-- even in my 50s after 20 years of working in media.
His reply was that now & then at age 80 he still runs into an old film he somehow missed, and it gives him great delight.
Ooo, your pop might well be on to something. Instead of lamenting that, similar to the case with books, I'll simply never be able to see every motion picture I'd wish to see, mayhap I should regard each film as a gift rare & precious, rather than as one more check mark on a nigh infinite list. Thanks, Dreamer!
