Project BLACK MAMBA

4 October was the Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Otherwise, we would have remembered Saint Francis of Assisi, O.F.M. (c. 1181-1226), founder of the Franciscans, formally known as the Order of Friars Minor, amongst whom there are innumerable factions & schisms: Saint-link ūnus, Saint-link duo, & Wikipedia-link; Wikipedia-link O.F.M.

We would also have remembered Saint Ammon (c. 290-c. 350), hermit: Saint-link & Wikipedia-link.

Today we remember Saint Faustina, O.L.M. (1905-1938, A.K.A. Maria Faustina Kowalska): Saint-link ūna, Saint-link duae, & Wikipedia-link.

Commentary: I've prayed the Divine Mercy chaplet, but at this point in my pilgrimage here on Earth it is not part of my personal devotions. I know many who belong to Divine Mercy cenacles & they all speak very highly of the salutary affect praying the chaplet & studying St. Faustina's Diary has had on them. I find the tendency to place a Divine Mercy image in every single room throughout the whole parish campus a wee bit irksome, but that could just be my contrary streak speaking.

Scripture of the Day
Mass Readings
The Book of Jonah, chapter one, verse one thru chapter two, verse two, eleven;
The Book of Jonah, chapter two, verses three thru five, eight;
The Gospel according to Luke, chapter ten, verses twenty-five thru thirty-seven.

Mass Journal: Week 41
Reflection by Matthew Kelly, founder of the Dynamic Catholic Institute.
The process of identifying strengths & weaknesses & transforming weaknesses into strengths is classic catholic spirituality. For two thousand years, the champions of Christianity, the men & women we call saints, have been going into the classroom of silence, taking a humble & honest look at themselves, & assessing their own strengths & weaknesses. Then, armed with this knowledge, they have bravely set forth to transform their weaknesses into strengths, their vices into virtues.
