Operation AXIOM: After the World War—The German Revolution, Part III
December 1918: Demobilized German soldiers returning home from their incomprehensible defeat found a chaotic Germany, much transformed from the country for which they had endured the hell of trench warfare; many sought solace & structure in paramilitary organizations called Freikorps ("Free Corps"); analogous militia in the Republic of German-Austria were called Heimwehr ("Home Guard").
Lest we forget.
