Mass Matters?
I've concluded that watching an internet livestream or a television broadcast of the Mass while under interdict is like cooking bacon on the Lenten Friday: it is a cruel self-torture, subjecting oneself to a multi-sensory temptation that cannot be satisfied. Therefore, I shall watch my parish's livestream of the Sunday anticipatory Mass this afternoon, but except for that I will not watch any further livestreamed Masses. I will also continue to regard with puzzlement all those who view the livestreaming of the Mass as an adequate response to the pastoral & catechetical nightmare that is the interdict against the faithful throughout so much of the world.
