15 February-26 October 1977: The Approach & Landing Tests—The Space Shuttle Enterprise OV-101 was carried aloft by the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (a modified Boeing 747); two crews—CDR Fred Haise & Pilot Gordon Fullterton & CDR Joe Engle & Pilot Dick Truly—piloted the Enterprise through three captive flights & five free flights, landing at California's Dryden Flight Research Center.
