The Space Race—The New Nine, Part VIII
Thomas Patten Stafford (born 17 September 1930), Lieutenant General, U.S. Air Force—He flew Gemini VI-A (1965), Gemini IX-A (1966), Apollo 10 (Charlie Brown & Snoopy, 1969), & the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (1975); he was the first astronaut to pilot a Lunar Module around the Moon; he initiated the F-117 Nighthawk "stealth fighter" & B-2 Spirit "stealth bomber" development programs.
Commentary: As as this publication, Lieutenant General Stafford is still alive, aged, ninety-two.

Commentary: Even this lengthy "Wayback Machine Tour" is not yet exhaustive, as Lieutenant General Stafford would fly a second Apollo mission, the final Apollo mission (July 1975). Look for "Explorers' Club" coverage of the fiftieth anniversary of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project two summers from now, in 2025, God willing & should the Earth perdure.
