The Rebel Black Dot Song of the Day: SKApril
The Insyderz, "God Almighty" from Soundtrack to a Revolution (T.L.A.M.)

Commentary: The Insyderz are Christian ska with gravelly vocals just this side of Dicky Barrett. It's hard to encapsulate just how much better I'd like them if their name was "The Insiders."

Man, are The Insyderz are still around? I remember watching them perform at local churches back in high school. I'm pretty sure my mom taught the lead singer junior high math.

The opening lyrics to "God Almighty":

"I know it's hard to think
And it's hard to believe,
That we're back from the dead
And we're back on the scene
Once again, yeah,
Back from the dead, yeah!
Let's go!

We're out of the shadows
And we're back on the street,
Getting ready to march
To our plaid destiny, yeah yeah,
Whoa, our destiny!"

I saw The Insyderz in, I think, '10, when they were selling "Ska is Dead" T-shirts. Wow, The Insyderz & Saint Thomas Boys' Academy, you were really plugged into the metro Detroit ska scene back in the day. Good on you!
