Commentary: I discovered Johnnyswim last week, when late-night channel-surfing lead to the discovery of a television show called Live from Daryl's House. That episode's featured band was Johnnyswim. While it certainly wasn't the recurrence of that nigh-miraculous night in 1997 when I discovered both The Mighty Mighty Bosstones & Reel Big Fish, & thus was introduced to ska, "Diamonds" is an enthralling song (the music being more compelling than the lyrics) & Johnnyswim a charming duo (a married couple, as it happens).
"We're the fire from the Sun,
We're the light when the day is done,
We are the brave, the chosen ones,
We're the diamonds, diamonds,
Rising up out the dust…"
