Operation AXIOM: After the World War
18 August 1920: Amendment XIX to the United States Constitution was ratified—Tennessee became the thirty-sixth of the forty-eight states to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment, enshrining nationwide American women's right to vote (women's suffrage); the proposed amendment faced stout opposition in Congress, finally passing the House 304-89 on 21 May 1919 & the Senate 56-25 on 4 June 1919.

Commentary: Two additional states ratified the Nineteenth Amendment after its adoption (September 1920 & 1921); two states didn't vote on the amendment in 1920, but ratified it decades later (1969 & 1971); & eight states rejected the amendment in 1920, but all eventually ratified it (1923-1984). All forty-eight states that comprised the Union in 1920 ratified the Nineteenth Amendment by 1984.

Lest we forget.
