Operation AXIOM
'Tis the summer solstice, the so-called longest day of the year. This is the zenith of the Accursed Sun's dominion over the Earth, for from this day forward every day's sunlight hours will grow shorter & shorter 'til the Accursed Sun's nadir on the winter solstice. The Earth chars & burns under the Accursed Sun's death rays, yet take heart, dear readers, for the atomic furnace that would have killed us all long ago were it not for the geomagnetic field & the protective blanket of ozone in our pleasant orb's upper atmosphere is now in retreat, & will be outlasted by the hours of protective darkness after the autumnal equinox. The summer solstice is not the day of the Accursed Sun's victory, 'tis the day our victory begins.

The Rebel Black Dot Songs of the Day
Jeff Daniels, "Michigan, My Michigan" (live) via iTunes (T.L.A.M.)

Commentary: I heard the tail end of an interview with Mr. Daniels on today's Fresh Air; the program concluded with the playing of this recording of the haunting, beautiful "Michigan, My Michigan."

Dienstag, 19 Juni
Vampire Weekend, "M79" from Vampire Weekend (T.L.A.M.)

Commentary: I spent much of Tuesday morning in a company of a pair of chaps who spoke a great deal of Oxford shirts & all things Brooks Brothers. I thus sought for the "preppiest" music in my library, & settled on Vampire Weekend.
