19-20 January 1915: The first German zeppelin bombing raid on the United Kingdom, striking towns & villages on the Norfolk coast (London would be bombed starting May '15).
Commentary: Our preference, whenever possible, is not to use the photographs & pictures available on the Wikipedia, which I presume is the first stop of every explorer set upon a particular subject by an "Explorers' Club" episode. But some, like the propaganda poster below, are so spot-on for our purposes that they virtually demand to be included. The poster also serves to highlight the disproportionate psychological impact of the zeppelin raids.
