Project BLACK MAMBA

Today is the memorial of Pope Saint Callistus I (died circa 223), also spelt Callixtus, martyred under the Emperor Severus Alexander: Saint-link & Wikipedia-link.

Scripture of the Day
The Gospel according to Matthew, chapter eleven.

The Rebel Black Dot Song of the Day
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, "The Death Valley Vipers" from Pin Points and Gin Joints (T.L.A.M.)

Commentary:

"The Stovepipe to the Furnace,
But we pulled off out at the Pass,
We felt the Valley start to burn us,
We had half a tank of gas.
Without cellular phone service,
When the battery just died,
Half drunk and now half nervous,
Busted down there by the side.
Target practice on the cactus,
Low on ammo, no supplies,
Where anything could just attack us,
Six or seven other guys.
A thirty-mile estimation—
That would be as the crow fly—
To the nearest filling station:
Dangerous, but worth a try…"
