The Rebel Black Dot Song o' the Day: SKApril
Death of Guitar Pop featuring Neville Staple, "Suburban Ska Club" from Suburban Ska Club (The Last Angry Rude Boy)
Skammentary: Neville Staple is a member of the seminal 2-Tone band The Specials (A.K.A. the Special A.K.A.). Death of Guitar Pop are two skinny blokes from Essex, Silky & Top Kat. This is the first time I'm using the "4th Wave" label, referring to the much-desired, long-awaiting Fourth Wave of ska, though I'm going to retroactively apply the "4th Wave" label to this SKApril's rookies, where appropriate. One sign of the Fourth Wave's momentum is that SKApril '19 is on-track to have the third most debuts, trailing only SKApril '11, when all thirty bands were new & SKApril '12, when we featured all the bands ("all") for whom there wasn't space enough in that initial SKApril. Ska, ska, ska…
Labels:
2-Tone,
4th Wave,
