11 November 1921: The third Armistice Day—The American Unknown Soldier was entombed at Arlington National Cemetery, a year after the British Unknown Warrior & the French Soldat Inconnu ("Unknown Soldier"); the Unknown was ferried home from France by Dewey's famous U.S.S. Olympia C-6 & lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda; the current marble superstructure was constructed in 1931.
