The № 7 Toyota, which had led the race from the first hour, has retired. Kobayashi walked away from the TS050 after it stopped in the Porsche Curves, short of the pit lane. The № 9 Toyota is a lap down from the race-leading № 1 Porsche; so, unless the Porsche suffers problems similar to its № 2 sister car, Porsche will win a record-extending nineteenth 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Woe is us! Woe is us!
Especially given the heat of the day, there have been relatively few retirements to this point: only five cars. Of course, there is still far more race ahead than there is behind.
