Operation AXIOM: The World War—The Gotha Raids, Part I
May-June 1917: The German Luftstreitkräfte abandoned strategic bombing via airships due to the increasing effectiveness of Entente countermeasures resulting in an unsustainable rate of attrition, instead turning to heavier-than-air craft, Grossflugzeuge ("big aircraft") such as the Gotha G.IV & the gargantuan "R-planes" (Riesenflugzeuge, "giant aircraft").
Lest we forget.
