11-12 December 1920: The Burning of Cork—Three weeks after Dublin's Bloody Sunday & a fortnight after the Kilmichael Ambush, the Irish Republican Army (I.R.A.) ambushed Royal Irish Constabulary (R.I.C.) Auxiliaries at Dillon's Cross, killing one & wounding a dozen; in revenge, the R.I.C. "Black & Tans" & Auxiliaries burned & looted Cork, obstructed firemen, & murdered two I.R.A. in their bedroom.Lest we forget.
