6-7 August 1961: Vostok 2 lifted off from the Kazakh S.S.R.'s Baikonur Cosmodrome, carrying Pilot Gherman Titov aboard a Vostok 3KA capsule atop a Vostok-K rocket; he spent twenty-five hours in orbit, becoming the first man to eat in space, vomit in space, excrete in space, & sleep in space; he ejected from the Vostok capsule after reentry & parachuted to earth separate from his capsule.
