Skammentary: "The Struggle of Helen" presents Dan P.'s tired old critique that if persons just believe in themselves, instead of the Lord God, all the world's problems would disappear. 'Tis the original temptation, to fancy oneself the supreme being, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The lyrics are supreme foolishness, well-meaning but ultimately self-destructive; but the music of "The Struggle of Helen" has been rattling around in the back of my mind; so, here you go.
