The Space Race—The New Nine, Part II
John Watts Young (24 September 1930-5 January 2018), Captain, U.S. Navy—He flew Gemini 3 (Molly Brown, 1965), Gemini X (1966), Apollo 10 (Charlie Brown, 1969), Apollo 16 (Casper & Orion, 1972), STS-1 (Columbia, 1981), & STS-9 (Columbia, 1983); he was one of the twelve Moonwalkers, one of three astronauts to fly to the Moon twice, & a notorious smuggler of corned beef sandwiches.
Commentary: The S.S. John Young was a Cygnus robotic cargo spacecraft that flew the NG-10 resupply mission to the International Space Station (17 November 2018-25 February 2019).
