The Rebel Black Dot Irish Song o' the Day

Dropkick Murphys, "(F)lannigan's Ball" from The Meanest of Times (The Last Angry Irishman)

Commentary: "(F)lannigan's Ball" is an updated adaptation of the tradition folk song "Lanigan's Ball." The degeneration of the celebratory ball into an indiscriminate brawl is the very core of the song, in every era.
"Boy, oh boy, now this was a rumble,
Meself took a lick from mean Richard Green,
But I soon replied to that fine introduction
And gave him a terrible kick in the spleen.

"Talent the piper nearly got strangled,
They squeezed on his bellows, chanters, and all,
The girls in the middle nearly got trampled
And that put an end to Flannigan's Ball…"
