Speaking only for myself, I would be a more enthusiastic advocate of tighter environmental regulation in any number of areas if the greens were less aggressive, if they didn't regard compromise as impossible. They demand everything or nothing; so, I am among those who prefer to give them nothing. Were the Japanese essentially goaded into continued whaling? It's an intriguing theory.
