Today is the memorial of Saint Francis of Assisi (1182-1226), stigmatic & founder of the Franciscans, formally the Order of Friars Minor; the Poor Clares, formally the Order of Saint Clare; & the Third Order of Saint Francis: Saint-link & Wikipedia-link; Order-link Friars, Order-link Clares, & Order-link Thirds.
Commentary: There was an annual blessing of pets at Holy Redeemer today. I did not take Diva, because she seems quite content as a godless heathen & I thought it would be cruel to subject her to the trauma of being forced into her cat carrier in the service of beliefs she does not share. That, plus I didn't feel like dealing with the inevitable shower of cat pee that would have to been cleaned off both Diva & the cat carrier. O.K., you're right, 'twas mostly that last bit.
