25 January-5 February 1924: The I Olympic Winter Games were held in Chamonix, France—Sixteen nations competed in bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey, speed skating, figure skating, military patrol, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, & ski jumping; Norway led the medal table with seventeen: four golds, seven silvers, & six bronzes; Austria & Hungary competed, while Germany was banned.Bonus!
