Today is the Memorial of Saint John Neumann, C.Ss.R. (1811-1860), bishop: Saint-link Unus, Saint-link Duo, & Wikipedia-link.

Commentary: Quoth the bulletin:
As bishop, he was the first to organize a diocesan Catholic school system. He increased the number of Catholic schools in his diocese (Philadelphia) from two to [one hundred].
