Operation AXIOM: After the World War
14-15 June 1919: John Alcock (1892-1919) & Arthur Whitten Brown (1886-1948) completed the first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight, flying from St. John's, Newfoundland to Clifden, Ireland in just under sixteen hours in a modified Vickers Vimy bomber, beating competitors from Handley Page & Sopwith; the duo won a £10,000 prize from the Daily Mail newspaper & were shortly thereafter knighted.

Lest we forget.
