Commentary: Quoth the Holy Redeemer bulletin:
St. Christopher Magallanes, along with twenty-oneother priests & three lay companions, were martyred between 1915 & 1937, bu shooting or hanging, through eight Mexican states, for their membership in the Cristero movement. Their slogan was: "Long live Christ the King & the Virgin of Guadalupe!"
Quoth the Holy Family bulletin:
St. Christopher, twenty-one diocesan priests, & three lay faithful were martyred for being part of the Cristeros movement against the anti-Catholic Mexican government during the 1920s. St. Christopher had erected a seminary in Totatiche & ministered to the people secretly. When imprisoned, he was heard to shout from is cell: "I am innocent & I die innocent. I forgive with all my heart those responsible for my death, & I ask God that the shedding of my blood serve the peace of our divided Mexico."
