A Bit of History
I do not wish to seem insensitive to the casualties that we have suffered in Iraq, but in light of recent hyperbole, I feel that a bit of historical perspective might be in order.

Iraq is 171,000 square miles in size; in twelve months of fighting, we have suffered approximately 600 dead.

Iwo Jima is 7 1/2 square miles in size; in thirty-six days of fighting, we suffered approximately 7,000 dead.
