The Explorers Club
No. CLXXIII - The Yellow Kid.
This episode of "The Explorers Club" was inspired by today's Frazz. Auspiciously, this was the first time I'd read the funny pages in months.

Do you mind if I ask if there was nay particular portion of Frazz that led to your selection of The Yellow Kid, or is this more related to the history of the newspaper comic strip? I read the past few installments of Frazz and didn't find any obvious connection. (Not a difficult task at all, as Frazz is one of the better comic strips.)
I don't mind at all, old sport. Sunday's Frazz consisted of one large panel, with two small interior panels in which Frazz & Caulfield discuss the similarities between dandelions & celebrities. The Yellow Kid reference is in a part of the strip that might not have appeared in some papers, a large title panel I'm choosing to call the frontispiece; for space, many—too many—papers omit the frontispiece and give the title and authorship in plan text above the strip.
In the frontispiece, under "Frazz by Jeff Mallett," The Yellow Kid, whose shirt reads "Nottin fades like yella," walks by Frazz & Caulfield. Caulfield whispers to Frazz, "Who's the weird kid?"
Frazz replies, "He was famous once."
Seeing this, I thought, "You know, Caulfield might not be the only person who doesn't know about The Yellow Kid. This looks like a job for… 'The Explorers Club'!"
That explains it. The newspaper I read omitted the frontispiece, and I did not reread that particular strip online.
