Today is the optional memorial of Saint Cyril of Jerusalem, Bishop & Doctor of the Church (c. 315-386): Saint-link ūnus, Saint-link duo, & Wikipedia-link.

Commentary: Quoth the bulletin:
Cyril (315-387) was born near Jerusalem & he became patriarch of the city from 350 until his death. Cyril's teachings on Christian doctrine & specifically those addresed to new Catholics & converts are treasures of theological literature, for which he was named a Doctor of the Church.

Mass Journal: Week 2
I was given my Mass Journal on Christmas Eve, so the first "week" covers the period from Wednesday, 24 December 2014 through Saturday, 3 January 2015. Week 2 began on Sunday, 4 January 2015.
There is genius in Catholicism, if we will just take the time & make the effort to humbly explore it, If you & I are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. If sixty-seven million Catholics in the United States stepped it up a notch, something incredible would happen. So let's decide, here & now, today, to begin to explore the genius of our faith, to be part of the solution, & step it up a notch.
