The Rebel Black Dot Songs of the Day

Aloe Blacc, "Love Is the Answer" from Lift Your Spirit (The Last Angry Man)

Commentary: This is how the R.B.D.S.O.T.D. works: "Love Is the Answer" has never been one of my favorite songs off Lift Your Spirit, but I woke up this morning with its lyrics & melody dancing through my head; so, here we are. Whom am I to question the muses?

For those of you wondering, the German word for Thursday is
Donnerstag.

Mittwoch, 30. November
Jim Gaffigan, "Bed" from King Baby (The Last Angry Man)

Commentary: Alas, yesterday was not one of "those bed days" for me. I was sick.
"I had a bed day today. You ever hang out in bed all day? Anyone else do heroin? No?

'That's not funny.'

Those bed days are the best. People rarely volunteer that information. 'Sorry I'm late, I didn't get out of bed 'til 5:00 P.M.'

'Oh, were you sick?'

'No, I was in heaven. Just fantasizing about being in a coma…'"

Fountains of Wayne, "Kid Gloves" from Out-of-State Plates (The Last Angry Man)

Commentary: In the grip of the dreadful sick, during the first sustained period of wakefulness amidst a day spent entirely in bed or the water closet, what I wanted to listen to as I drifted back to Slumberland was Fountains of Wayne, specifically "Kid Gloves." Gentle, gentle was what I needed.
