Commentary: Quoth the bulletin:
In 863 the brothers reached the Czech Republic (of today) & immediately began teaching & preaching in the Slavic language of the people. They started a school to train young men for the priesthood. They conducted the liturgical services in Slavic & eventually developed a special Slavic alphabet in order to put the Bible & liturgy in writing.Today we also remember Saint Valentine (d. c. 269), martyr, whose life is admittedly obscure: Martyr-link ūnus, Martyr-link duo, & Wikipedia-link.
Commentary: Note that my Anti-Valentine's venom is for the contemporary secular holiday "Valentine's Day," not the true Valentine's Day, the feast of Saint Valentine, which we observe today.
