February-July 1924: The Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold (Black, Red, Gold Banner of the Reich), primarily affiliated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany, & the Roter Frontkämpferbund (Red Front Fighters' League), affiliated with the Communist Party of Germany, were formed, paramilitary organizations to defend party activities against the Nazi Party's Sturmabteilung, & each other.
